Have realistic expectations, you won't be as disappointed By LawyerMom Do NOT buy this if you think it will replace your vacuum. I have a 2 year old and a VERY good vacuum on hand that I use once a week (though I probably should vacuum twice a week). For all the messes that occur in between (probably 2-3x a day), I use the Shark to make my life easier. I'm currently a stay at home mom with a toddler and she leaves crumbs EVERYWHERE. We live in a small apartment, so the dining room is a spit's throw from the living room and it's almost unavoidable to have toddlers (my kid, my kid's friends, my friends' kids...) carrying their muffins, snacks, crackers, pretzels around and about the living area. I got the Shark more because my daughter was terrified of loud sounds and my regular vacuum cleaner, but have found that the nice bonus is that it's so much easier to lug this one out 2-3 times a day to pick up crumbs right after snack time (and hence avoid having it ground into the rugs) than to pull out my heavy Bissell. Pros: It's lightweight, very quiet, convenient, and effective for picking up visible crumbs if used correctly. Cons: It doesn't do heavy-duty or deep cleaning; the price-tag can be steep; Shark sweepers are known to break down after a few months to a year. My mom has an older version of the Shark sweeper, which is much more quiet than this one. She's a waitress and uses it to tidy up the floor under the tables in between customers. Obviously, she's subjecting it to pretty heavy use, and she's now on her third one. Her recommendations on making it last a long as possible: clean the sweeper thoroughly after a few uses (that includes pulling out accumulated hair in the brushes and washing the collection bin) and charge the battery according to directions (do not allow to sit for longer than 19 hours at a time charging, you will reduce battery life). The Shark Vx3 is a little louder than hers. But I like the fact that it has two speed settings (supposedly for floor and carpet). The handle bends so that you can push it under furniture, which is a little helpful, but kinda awkward and (knowing that the Shark sweeper handles are notorious for breaking off) I prefer to not use it at all. The Shark Vx3 also has a little rotator brush on the side, which is supposed to pick up crumbs as you push it against the side of a wall, but I wish that they had thought to put a rotator brush on both sides. They claim also that you can push a button and dump out the collection cup without ever having to touch the dirt. This is true in theory, but in practice, the lid often catches or there is dirt stuck in the bin that you have to shake it out--so it's almost unavoidable to touch the bin or dirt. No big deal--just wash your hands afterwards. The bottom line: don't expect to replace your vacuum. And here's the KEY to use the sweeper most effectively -- push it SLOWLY and repeatedly over the pile of crumbs that you intend to pick up. I found that if you tried to push the sweeper back and forth quickly like a regular vacuum, it didn't pick up anything, just pushed the dirt around. If you found this review helpful, please let me know! 46 of 47 people found the following review helpful. Charged properly, and used for the right jobs, it's great By sandrift This sweeper is not a substitute for a vacuum cleaner, but it is a fantastic complement to a vacuum. Half the floors in our house are carpeted and the other half are hardwood or tile - I use the regular vacuum for the carpeted areas, but I use the Shark for the hardwood floors, kitchen, and laundry room areas. On the hard surfaces, the Shark is great at picking up dead bugs, bits of cat kibble, cat litter, bits of food, and other visible dirt and particles. I run it over low-pile throw rugs on the higher speed setting and it does okay (throw rugs are always a pain, even with vacuums). I don't really use it on

By Grandma B Having all hardwood and tile floors, I went on mission to find something convenient to clean with. I read dozens and dozens of reviews on every conceivable type of hard surface floor cleaner. There seems to be 2 complaints about this mop...short charge time, and it didn't get the floor "hands and knees" clean. Well, if you are that anal that you still mop on your hands and knees, more power to you! I wanted something that would clean the floor after a new puppy accident, grandchildren spills and tracked-in mud on a day to day basis. And this mop works great! I can clean all my floors twice on one charge (which is about 1600 square feet, so not huge), and as far as the complaint about the water not staying real hot, news flash, if you use a antibiotical cleaner, you don't need hot water. I have not had any streaks, it picks up all the water and leaves the floor just damp. Apparently, some buyers expected it to leave the floor totally dry...and just how would that be managed? Built in hair dryer? And no, it is not a vacuum; you have to broom sweep first. But who doesn't sweep before they mop? For the money, I think it's a great answer to the problem. It is easy to fill, easy to empty, and easy to store. I would (and have) recommend it to family and friends. If I had any suggestion for improvement, it would be to lower the brushes about a 1/4 inch to get even better scrubbing action. 25 of 25 people found the following review helpful. Works great on flat surfaces, but does have some limitations By Melissa I bought this electric mop for a very specific purpose. I have a 3'x5' area of my kitchen that needs mopped everyday. It's where my cat's litter box and food is. Our cat eats an all raw diet, which means he usually gets raw meat on the floor where he's been tackling a chicken neck. Getting the mop out everyday is a pain. So, I went in search of a solution. What I really wanted was a machine that would vacuum the litter and mop that area. The only one I found that would do both was the Bissell Flip Eaze (http://www.amazon.com/Bissell-Flip-Eaze-Upright-Vacuum/dp/B000H6D2UW/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1221329733&sr=1-7). However, the reviews were very mixed and it used pads which I would need to keep ready. For those to reasons, I decided to pass. I also looked at Swiffers. I had a Swiffer wet mop back when they first came out. It most likely would have worked fine for this project, but it has an ongoing expense with the replacement pads costing about .30 a day. For my use, over the course of a year that's ~100.00. After a weekend of researching other machines, I decided to go with the Hoover. I have a full size Hoover carpet cleaner and am well satisfied with it. For what I bought this one for, I'm extremely happy with it. It easily handles the morning clean up of the kitchen (which is linoleum). I've used it to clean my whole kitchen (~200 sq. ft.) and it works very well. I've had good results using it on the tile in my utility room as well. However, it does not work well on the tile in my entry hall. The tile in my utility room is a 12 inch tile with a shallow, narrow grout. A little deeper than what you would have in most bathroom showers. The tile in my entry hall is 9", with beveled edges and a deep, wide grout. When using the electric mop it is just a little narrower than the tiles, which means the wheels run on the edge of it which makes it difficult to use. While the suction is great on the flatter surfaces, it's not strong enough to pull the water from the deeper grout. As far as battery life, it gets about 20 minutes of use. If my floor is pretty clean, I can do my entire kitchen on a single charge, but it does struggle towards the end and I have to work fast. My sister has a larger tiled area and used it on her floor for heavier cleaning. She said it did a pretty good job, but she did have to charge it

By Kara I needed a good working, and affordable vac to clean up my small college dorm room's carpet (It's not a very plush carpet). This vac surprised me! So far it's been working out fantastic! The long handle is detachable and so is the top head so you can convert it into the familiar dust buster. It's small enough to store under a bed in a dorm room. It has a pointed wand attachment too. This certainly isn't something you would want to use as a main vac for a house, but it's great for the dorm. The cord length seems to work great for my 16'x12' dorm room--so it does NOT operate as a cordless, so no worries about the battery dying out on you. It's bagless so the canister has to be emptied... which brings me to my only complaint about it... everything seems to get stuck to the filter... hair, dust and dirt... so it's not just a matter of emptying the canister. You have to pick everything off the filter, and it has a tendency to get inverted so you have to pull it out to clean it good. So my suggestion is to clean it over an open trash can... and for the dust you just can't seem to pick off, use a lint roller on the filter and it seems to clean it up well. (which is why I give it 4 stars instead of 5) Otherwise, great vac for the price paid (Approximately $20 at Wal-mart). 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. EXCELLENT!!! By Jane K. I purchased this product at a local store for $20. I have all hardwood floors, 3 dogs, an African Grey Parrot, and will tell you this product does a great job! Before, I would use a dust mop in between regular vacuuming and this cuts the time in half, yes half! When done, you just empty the cup, wipe it out, clean the filter put it away. WORTH EVERY PENNY. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Simple, Lightweight Stick Vac That Just Plain Works By J. M. Taylor I was researching stick vacuums for my parents who have a multi-level home with a mix of carpet, linoleum and hardwood floors. The main vacuum, also a Bissell Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner (which has been fantastic by the way)is a bit too large to pull out for spot cleans. I initially had purchased a Shark cordless, but I only got a few minutes out of it before the suction power (from the Ni-Cd battery) pooped out. It was also cumbersome to switch to a hand vac. The Feather weight is a wonderful replacement. After the battery debacle, I knew I wanted a corded vac. This Bissell has a fairly generously sized cord so I can move around nearly the whole kitchen on one outlet. The detachable handle is tall enough for me (I'm about six feet even), and the cord wraps around the molded hooks nicely when not in use. The floor attachment does NOT swivel, but that's not really a huge issue in terms of usage - the vac is so lightweight it's inherently maneuverable. The floor attachment has no 'beater bar' to send debris flying. On hard surfaces this is great because the suction alone is more than ample to pick up even old, nasty Cheerios. Performance of thick carpet is fairly limited though... The floor attachment does not 'lock' onto the vacuum body, which I was at first concerned about. However, the fit is excellent and snug so I can push and pull the vac across the floor with out it coming apart. Using the vacuum as a 'dustbuster' (without the handle or floor attachment) is great as well - the nozzle is wide enough to get debris on stairs and what not, and the included edge cleaner is great for getting stuff out of hard-to-reach areas. Cleaning is a snap - the filter is washable, and the bagless dirt trap keeps everything contained well. To clean the filter, I like to flick it gently from the inside to avoid touching the junk that's picked up off the floor. In fact that's really the only major downside to this cleaner - there may be more physical contact with the picked up debris

Amazon.com Review The Bissell Flip-It Select promises two hard-surface cleaners in one: a dry vacuum for picking up crumbs and a heated wet-mop for sticky spills. Replacing broom, dustpan, vacuum cleaner, mop, and bucket in one fell stroke, this slender, lightweight cleaner effectively simplifies and saves space, especially in crowded spaces like kitchens. Start by using it as a regular stick vacuum to clear away small debris. To change functions, simply turn the unit around, switching on the built-in heater for added cleaning power. The Flip-It has separate clean and dirty water tanks, so unlike the traditional mop-bucket combo, you're always working with freshly heated, unsoiled water, and it leaves floor dry once they've been cleaned. It also comes with two different wet cleaning surfaces, a soft brush for tile or other surfaces with grout and crevices, and the Gentle Clean pad for babying delicate surfaces like hardwood or laminates. The Flip-It's dual-function cleaning proves especially convenient on smaller areas and for touchups, but mastering the wet-mop function can be tricky, and many users find it hard to push in wet mode until the floor has been saturated with liquid. Technique (and practice) help the process considerably: press the trigger down on the forward stroke to spray cleaning fluid, then release it as you pull back so the squeegee dries the floor. The Flip-It Select is easy to maintain; both filter and brushes clean up easily under running water and the Gentle Clean pad can go straight into the washing machine. It even stores ready to use with water and cleaning fluid in the tank. Weighing in at just ten pounds, the unit is powered by a nine-amp motor when using heat, three amps without, and includes trial sizes of hard-surface and wood-floor cleaners as well as an extra Gentle Clean pad. The power cord features a quick-release wrap as well as a clip for storage. Compact, maneuverable, and ergonomically designed, the Flip-It Select is 44 inches tall, with a base measuring 11 inches long and 8 inches wide, and comes backed by a limited one-year warranty. --Mary Park

Great for my hardwood floors By ladybug Whether I used a regular mop and bucket, my swiffer wet jet, or my hoover steam vac, I always ended up with a haze on my hardwood floors that I would clean off with a wipe or furniture polish. This is the first machine that leaves my floor shiny and without a haze. It is worth it just for that!!! I also like the job it does on my lineoleum. The first couple of times I used it on what I thought were clean floors because I had recently mopped them, I was surprised at how dirty the water was. After using this as my primary means to clean my floors (two maybe three times a week depending on traffic and what is going on in my household) I notice that my floors not only look cleaner, but also feel much cleaner on the few occassions when I am not wearing house slippers. This is so much better than the regular mopping. I have read other reviews on the flip-it regarding water being left on the floor; when that does happen, I just go back over that section so that it will be taken care of. For the most part I don't care about a little water on the floor because I would have so much more if I had the mop and bucket or used my steam vac. I am sold! 28 of 28 people found the following review helpful. Flip-it versus Hoover Spin Scrub By Comdet I was torn between the Hoover and Bissell models - each seemed to have good and bad points. So I got both, with the idea that I'd return the one that was less capable to do the job. What I found was that both have different pluses, and ended up keeping them both. The Spinscrub has the advantage in cleaning power. The spinning brushes do a better job on getting tile floors clean, especially rough surface tile. It's also more sturdily built - feels more solid (although that sometimes does not translate into longevity). It's the one I use for large tile expanses, such as in the kitchen and basement. But, the 15 inch width is a drawback in tighter spaces, such as bathrooms. The Flip-it excels in maneuverability - perfect for getting around obstacles (such as the toilet). Although it lacks spinning brushes, it has the advantage of a cloth pad which does a great job on smooth surfaces. The heat also helps out, especially with sticky messes. It doesn't turn the water to steam, but clearly kicks up the temp (I believe the spec's say 25 degrees). I found the best way to use it is to start with the cloth pad attached. That helps even out the water distribution and also helps capture crumbs, pet hair, etc. After one pass with the cloth attached, remove it and put in the scrubby pad. That helps get the floor 99% dry (smooth surfaces) or 90% dry (rough surfaces). The cloth pad really shines (no pun intended) when it comes to hardwood or laminate floors. Does a far better job than the Hoover in cleaning and water suction. I don't use the Hoover at all anymore on smooth floors regardless of the size of the room. It may take a bit longer with the Flip-it due to its smaller size, but the end result is much better. Both are about equal when it comes to disassembly and cleaning - a few parts to take out and clean, but nothing major. Cleaning the unit after using it is very important to keep the crud out of the seals to prevent leaks and clogs. Both have a washable filter, and both require that you dry the filter before using it again (tip - get an extra filter so you're never without a dry, clean filter). I tend to favor the smell of the Bissell cleaning solution, but the Hoover stuff is pretty good - both have a nice "fresh" smell. Both brands clean equally well, and are priced about the same. Lowes carries the Bissell brand; Walmart carries Hoover (at least in my area). Bissell tends to be a nicer company when it comes to support. They offer replacement parts and supplies on their website at reasonable prices, and answer emails if you have questions. Hoover is not as responsive, and their

Most helpful customer reviews 16 of 17 people found the following review helpful. great vacuum for apt By Stresspuppy a powerful vacuum (1000w) that's fairly quiet and does a fine job on both hardwood floors and rugs. it's great around the apartment with its 26 ft long cord.the miele s143 is solidly constructed without being overly weighty and is nicely balanced. the head pivots slightly side to side and is actually helpful vacuuming around things like a furniture leg. the head loses full contact somewhat when you bring the vacuum down to the level of the floor in the rug mode -- trying (ummph) to get deep under the sofa or bed but otherwise but generally does a fine job.the heart of the s143 can be used with a smaller head/crevice attachment and without the long handle, much like a really powerful hand vac. a very useful feature for cleaning furniture.there is an option to upgrade to a hepa filter (although the included carbon filter bag is good enough for me) and i believe an option to upgrade to a motorized head but i suspect if that's a serious consideration, the s147 is probably the way to go.off tangent: i'm not sure why the description lists Ivory as the color but the s143, as far as i know, only comes in the mint green shown in the picture.all in all, a finely built product that's nicely met the needs of this apartment dweller... though a tad on the pricey side. 12 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Bagged Stick Vac By Reckless Consumer *Note that the same model is available on Amazon for a different price, I'm not sure why. *The only difference between the S163 and S168 is the HEPA filter on the S168...I found it was significantly cheaper to buy the S163 and add the HEPA filer purchased separately. It is extremely difficult to find a bagged stick vac. For those of us with allergies (or just aversion to dust) "bagless" vacuums are not attractive. Dumping the dust bin re-releases lots of junk (especially the smallest, lightest particles) back into the air. I bought the Miele S163 simply because it was the only bagged stick vac I could find several years ago. I am thrilled with it. It has very strong suction and rolls easily across our hardwood floors. It does not blow or push around crumbs like many other vacuums, it actually picks them up on the first pass. The chamber is sealed and after several years of use the inside of the vac is literally like new, every speck of dust has been trapped in the bag or filter. Because I only use mine on hard floors, I find I don't have to change the bag more often than our large canister vac (which we use for carpets). Even very dirty hard floors don't generate nearly as much "waste" as carpets, and I generally change the S163 bag every month, even though it's usually not full. I have a cat and two Cheerio-eating children and use the vac at least once per day. Bottom line: this vacuum has kept my kitchen floor crumb-free for several years and shows no sign of quitting anytime soon. 16 of 19 people found the following review helpful. Scratches wood floors!! By Allyson M. Saad I own a Miele canister vac as well and always used it on my wood floors with the floor attachment. Then I was talked into buying this cute green stick vac so I would always have a floor vac "ready to go" (I do a lot of floor cleaning with 3 boys!). Well, it worked fine for about 6 months, then some metal pieces popped out on the head while I was using it and scratched my floor badly. The vacuum is also heavy and doesn't lean easily against things; mine slipped down and promptly cracked the plastic floor attachment. Miele vacuums vacuum well but their plastic is defective. I've owned slightly cheaper Kenmore's that vacuum almost as well but are a lot more durable. Also, you CAN disconnect the wand from the body and use it as a hand vac, but it is very heavy. I wanted to replace my Shark cordless sweeper that was wearing out. The Dirt Devil was more flimsy than the Shark. It didn't pick up as well. The entire top of the sweeper was covered with dust after I used it; this never happened with the Shark. It was hard to turn on and off with my foot compared to the Shark. The final problem occurred after I had used it for less than a week and the left wheel broke off. I returned it for a refund. Although my experience with this product was disappointing, as always, my experience with Amazon was completely satisfactory. They have a return policy with no questions asked and send you a return mailing label. I find myself buying more and more from Amazon because of their superior customer service. 17 of 18 people found the following review helpful. Great Little Sweeper By D. Danko This model Dirt Devil is a great little sweeper; it fits under chairs and other furniture; and it is lightweight and quiet. It runs quite a while on a single charge. 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. We will never go back to regular sweeping! Great for the elderly. By Chicken Lips I bought this for my elderly mom to help out with basic cleanup since the vacuum is too heavy for her, and she can't bend her back very well to do regular sweeping. To her, this sweeper is a god-send. It picks up everything rather well from carpets and the bare kitchen floor. It is super light and maneuvers around very easily. Also, Amazon's price is half of what we saw at the store! Awesome sweeper for fast cleanup between vacuumings. See all 16 customer reviews...

Bissell Flip-!t Bare Floor Cleaner, 5200

Bissell 5200 Flip-It Bare Floor Cleaner - The safe and powerful way to effectively clean bare floors

Amazon Sales Rank: #86319 in Home Color: Acier blue Brand: Bissell Model: 5200 Released on: 2004-10-15 Number of items: 1 Dimensions: 9.50" h x 13.50" w x 31.75" l, 12.50 pounds Upright bare-floor cleaner with trigger control for solution dispensing 3 cleaning modes include dry vacuum, wet vacuum, and drying Machine-washable, floating, soft-scrub brush and interchangeable pad 22-foot power cord; 2 trial-size chemical solutions included Measures 7-1/2 by 11-1/4 by 44 inches; 1-year limited parts-and-labor warranty

Combining power with versatility, this bare-floor cleaner features three modes of cleaning--dry vacuum, wet vacuum, and drying. A fingertip trigger control dispenses the cleaning solution, while its floating soft-scrub brush and interchangeable pad, which are machine washable, allow for cleaning various types of floor surfaces. Lightweight at just 8 pounds, this self-standing upright unit is designed with a low-profile head, which makes it easier to access hard-to-reach areas like under beds, couches, and other furniture. Other convenient features include simple drop-in tanks, one-screw quick assembly, and a 22-foot power cord for easy maneuverability. Two trial-size Bissell chemical solutions are included. This safe and powerful floor cleaner measures 7-1/2 by 11-1/4 by 44 inches and carries a one-year limited parts-and-labor warranty. Wet or Dry Begin by using the dry side to vacuum crumbs, pet hair, and other dirt and debris. When the unit is flipped around, and the handle tilted back, the Gentle Clean brush is automatically lowered for wet cleaning. When the formula trigger is squeezed, water and formula are dispensed on the floor. A Gentle Clean brush or pad cleans the floor, while the squeegee and suction leave the floor dry and ready to walk on. Unlike other hard floor cleaners, the Flip-It can be customized for different flooring types with its interchangeable Gentle Clean brushes and cleaning pads. The Gentle Clean brush is designed for use on surfaces such as tile, slate or hard floors with grout or crevices where dirt and grime collect. While the Gentle Clean pad is perfect for use on more delicate surfaces such as sealed hardwood, laminates or vinyl. The Flip-It can safely be used on virtually all hard floor surfaces in your home such as vinyl, ceramic, laminates, slate and sealed hardwood. It is not intended for use on carpeting. Easy to Use The Flip-It hard floor cleaner involves no complicated levers or buttons to change between dry and wet cleaning. A simple one step assembly is all that is required. Place the handle on the unit and insert one screw to secure it in place. After filling the clean tank with water and solution you are ready to clean. Plus, the lightweight cleaner's low-profile head easily accesses hard-to-reach spaces and corners under beds, couches, and other furniture. The Bissell Story Bissell's history dates back to the mid-1800s in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where Anna and Melville Bissell owned a small crockery shop. While cleaning up one day, Anna grew frustrated with the sawdust in the carpet. After she presented the problem to Melville, he designed and constructed the company's first carpet sweeper, which subsequently was patented in 1876. Following Melville Bissell's death in 1889, Anna Bissell became America's first female corporate CEO. The Bissell company has evolved into a leader in carpet cleaning, introducing one of the first carpet shampooers in 1956, as well as the Big Green Clean Machine in 1992 and the Spot Lifter in 1998. Throughout the company's history, it has continually focused on redefining the concept of clean with a large family of innovative cleaning products.

I have 3 large dogs that drool any water left in their mouths after a drink, and a large textured ceramic floor that collects dirt in the grooves of the texture. I bought a Hoover Floor-mate in hopes of eliminating the mop and bucket, and because I felt that after a while I was pushing around dirty water. The Floor-mate did pick up a lot of dirt, but it is too large to get under cabinets and the brushes are too soft and too high to get into the crevices of the texture in the ceramic. I decided to try the Flip-It because it is supposed to vacuum and wash the floor. First of all, you really have to vacuum first and clean the receptacle before washing. Otherwise, you will end up with a yucky mess to clean from the receptable and filter. I didn't find that the vacuum blew the hair as one other buy had reported, but I agree that it doesn't vacuum very well. It picked up some hair and small crumbs, but didn't get all of it. This was obvious when I washed the floor. More hair was picked up in the washing process. With the rubber brush and a little pressure, this cleaner did get much more of the dirt out of the floor texture. I still had to scrub some with the brush on the unit, but I would have to do the same with a sponge mop. At least with this cleaner, the dirty water is vacuumed up and clean solution is dispensed for the next section. Even with my uneven floor, the unit did pick up the water, and the floor dried quickly. The first floor bathroom, hall, kitchen, and foyer are pretty large, kitchen alone is about 12' x 18'. I had to refill the cleaner 3 times. I filled the unit with hot water from the tap. So maybe that helped. I don't think this is too bad because I had to refill the Floor-mate as many times and it didn't get the floor as clean. I wouldn't use this unit as a vacuum again, but as a hard floor cleaner, I think it works well on floors that need more scrubbing than a soft brush. 427 of 441 people found the following review helpful. Has serious drawbacks By M. Popov Purchased the Flip-It a couple of days ago, so my review is based on only one cleaning of kitchen tile floor. But it was enough to reveal serious flaws in the design and manufacturing of this device. Overall, I'm not satisfied with this unit, mainly for three reasons: (1) due to the very poor dry pick-up due to the design flaw of air blowing down and dispersing the dirt you are supposed to pick-up, (2) the fact that you need to use a rag or mop to dry after the last square foot of floor space cleaned, (3) using this unit in a relatively small area is actually more difficult and considerably slower than using a mop, unless you leave the floor wet, which defeats the purpose of the drying function. The idea to have separate dedicated dry vacuum side and wet pick-up side was what initially sold me on this unit. I was comparing to the Hoover Floor Mate models about which I read that dry pick-up is not very good, plus they are 60%-70% more expensive than the Bissell. The unit indeed is very easy to assemble and was ready to use in less than 5 minutes after attaching the handle with one screw. The handle was a bit squeaky due to all screws being rather loose, so I tightened them about a 1/4 turn of the screwdriver to remedy this. The build quality seems fine and the motor noise acceptable (at least compared to the overly noisy full-size Hoover SteamVac I got for carpets, which by the way cleans carpets very well). I noticed that the amperage rating of this unit is only 3 amps. Compare this to the 10-12 amps of most regular vacuums or carpet cleaners (or the 5 or more amps on wet/dry vacs you might use in your garage) and you will get an idea of the suction power. It turned later that indeed it is not very strong (but it would have been adequate if not for the serious design problem which rendered the unit useless for

Fielack From [...] I really wanted to like the Shark Multi-Vac, but, God help me, I'm about to throw it out the window! At first I thought having a vacuum with multiple uses (hand vac, upright vac, and canister vac) would be great, but changing from one configuration to another takes a degree in rocket science and a lot of energy. I'm generally a very tech-y girl, but I really don't want to be deconstructing and reconstructing a robot when all I want to do is vacuum the kitchen floor!! Deep breath. For ease of reading, I'll list the pros and cons (of which there are many): Pros: * Low Price: With one of those 20% coupons Bed, Bath and Beyond sends in the mail what seems like every day, I was able to buy the Shark Multi-Vac for about $80 at the BB&B on Queens Blvd. * Small Size: Petite for a small home/apartment * Powerful Suction: The suction was so strong it actually got hard to push on some of my carpets. (Wait, does that make the suction a con in this instance?) * Back Saver Attachment: This attachment, used in canister mode, allows you to get under furniture without moving heavy pieces or straining your back. However, I couldn't even figure out how to convert the vacuum to canister mode and I strained my back with frustration anyway! * Purple Vacuum: Need I say more? Cons: * Crazy Swivel Steering: I would have thought swivel steering would be a pro, but it is actually really hard to steer the vacuum where you want it. I had a hard time pushing the vacuum straight ahead and actually needed to lift it and replace it down on the floor a couple of times. * Complicated Design: As I said above, it is difficult to transition from one vacuum format to another and putting the vacuum together out of the box was like building a spaceship (I exaggerate a little, of course). You also need to remove the entire hand vacuum from the stick to empty the dust cup, which is supremely annoying. * Inconvenient Power Switch Location: Unless you have some serious monkey toes, you'll need to bend down to the bottom of the vac to reach the power switch, which out of multi-use necessity must be on the hand vac canister. This pregnant lady did not appreciate that. * No Beater Brush: The upright vac does not have a beater brush, which means the vac won't kick up things and I had trouble picking up even a feather from our extremely low-pile carpeting. (I did have more success with the upright vac in our tiled kitchen.) * Heavy: Despite being advertised as "light-weight," this Shark is actually a bit of a chore to push around. Perhaps this is an unfortunate side effect, however, of the difficult steering and super suction. * Short Hose: Forget about cleaning your curtains when the vac is in upright mode. The most you're stretching this hose is two feet and it doesn't come with a long-reaching nozzle attachment. The bottom line is that I must return this vacuum before it drives me crazy. I was blinded by how cool and gadgety the Shark Multi-Vac Looks, but I've learned a lesson that simple and dependable is generally the way to go with household appliances. 62 of 62 people found the following review helpful. Good Buy for your Buck By Likes a Clean House Well, I just purchased (and finished using) the Shark "UltraLite". My girlfriend was in need of a new vacuum cleaner so I was looking around for one to purchase for her. She has a cat and her house is always in need of cleaning and vacuuming and after reading reviews and the information about the Shark UltraLite Multi-Vac, I decided to give this one a try. I saw one advertised at Bed, Bath and Beyond for $119.00. It was on sale for $99.99 and with my 20% off coupon, it brought the price down to $79.99. (Not a bad price for this unit) My girlfriend is not mechanically inclined AT ALL, so when I got the vacuum to my home, I decided to put it together and try it out before I gave it to her. It was lucky I

After LOADS of research about floor cleaners, I decided to buy a shark steam mop from Costco. I chose this mainly for the cheaper price tag and the great return service at Costco. (I kept the box.) After using it twice I was happy enough but then I saw the 2 in 1 advertise. Reading the reviews online I was torn. I decided to take a chance and ordered the mop through KOHL's using a 30% off coupon. I got the 2 in 1 for the same price as the regular steam mop and I am VERY happy! I have children, no pets and live in the country. We get a LOT of sand tracked in and the vac sucks it right up! My large area rug sheds a lot of wool fuzz and there again... the vac gets it right up. The "snack" crumbs left by the kiddies are also no match for the vac. I am not sure why the other reviewers say the vac suction doesn't work??? If you know slate, then you know it is uneven and has a natural variation in height, other cleaners I have tried didn't work (such as the Hoover Floor Mate). This Shark Vac then Steam mop worked!! It got every bit of debris off of the floor, even in the low spots and grout lines. Due to the uneven nature of slate at times I had to push it a little harder to get over the "bumps" but by no means was this "exhausting" as another person put it. I would even recommend it to my family members who have arthritis, it is easy to use. Switching to steam took the 30 seconds to heat up and then gave a solid steam for the endurance of the cleaning, I had about half of the water left in the container after cleaning. (It didn't run out and I don't feel it needs to be larger.) I like the clean feel it leaves on the floor and would not want to add anything to the water, I shy away from chemicals and extra smells due to allergies. Using the Shark is SO much better then hands and knees cleaning! I highly recommend! 232 of 234 people found the following review helpful. Not perfect, but best available By smartshopper I'll give it to you straight: No hype, no hating. This product is far from perfect. However, it works for me and is clearly the best option out there. This will not replace every other type of floor cleaning. It will not perfectly and completely deep clean your floor. It is great for quick, convenient everyday cleanup. The dirtier your floor, the harder it is to push. It can also be harder to push on linoleum. It was by no means so difficult as to be a deal breaker. I'm not gifted in the upper body strength area, and though it didn't glide effortlessly across the linoleum, I was not in any way winded, tired or sore from the job, even after cleaning the whole house. The steam does come and go in spurts. From the various reviews it seems like this may depend on the unit you happen to get. Mine will provide impressively strong steam for awhile, then need a "break" to "recharge". It happened enough to be annoying and affect how quickly I could clean the floor, but for me the overall convenience of the machine is worth this inconvenience. (It also helps if you make sure to keep the handle lowered as much as possible as opposed to upright, since this is what activates the steam). It is nice that you do not have to hold any type of trigger to activate the steam. The vacuum nozzle is in fact just inches long and located near the back of the machine. Not ideal, but makes sense with the way it is designed. This does not affect the suction, which I found to be quite good. It sucked up everything in its path. (It will not, however, pick up large/heavy debris. Like small rocks.) What it does affect, is the machine's ability to pick up things along the edges and in the corners. This is why it is not ideal for deep cleaning and will not replace all other floor cleaners. You have to go back and do the edges with something else. The floors dry

A friend said, "You HAVE to get a Shark steamer mop thing. It's awesome." But if you're a type-A like me, that's where the simplicity ends. I researched the (older model) Shark and because of the not so great reviews, I ended up ordering the Eureka ENVIRO STEAMER. I chose the Eureka primarily because of a comparison review by a user. Turns out, alot of the qualities written in the review, like water tank size and cord length, didn't apply anymore. So then, I ordered the Haan FS20-Plus 800-Watt Steam Cleaning Floor Sanitizer with Deluxe Sanitizing Tray based on the same reviewer's awesome comparison. But again, the info didn't match up to what I ordered/got. Today, I finally broke down and just went to a brick and morter Bedbathandbeyond. The guy was very helpful and showed me the various Sharks and told me this new model (the most expensive at $119) had a bigger tank than previous. So, here I am with 3 different steamer mops. Since I buy most of my stuff based on reviews, I thought I would take the time to do a very non-scientific comparison. *Euro-Pro Shark S3501 Deluxe Steam Pocket Mop ($106 with my 20%coup plus tax at BBB) *Haan FS20-Plus 800-Watt Steam Cleaning Floor Sanitizer with Deluxe Sanitizing Tray ($90 via Amazon) *Eureka ENVIRO STEAMER ($69 via Amazon) OUT OF THE BOX: All three were very easy to put together. Handle either snapped/or screwed into base. HANDLE: All are plastic and for the most part, feel a bit flimsy. None really stood out above the others. CORD: Shark has 30' (the longest) Haan and Eureka were same... about 18'. WATER TANK: ((my top priority, behind obviously cleaning)) Shark -- approx 1 3/4 cups* (fill cup provided is not marked) Eureka -- 1 1/4 cups* (fill cup provided is not marked but manual says capacity total 12 oz) Haan -- 1 cup* (fill cup provided is marked) *cup is based on the cup that came with Haan, the only one clearly marked. So I just filled the others and then dumped into the Haan cup. Hence, minor discrepancy. If you convert 12 oz into cups, it's 1 1/2 cups... but for some reason when I filled the Eureka container and dumped it into the Haan cup, it only filled it 1 1/4 ways. Go figure. CLEANING PAD: Shark's cleaning cloth covers the head but the design allows you to flip it so you can use both sides with ease. The whole head actually flips on the mop so it's not like you're taking the cloth off and then putting it back on. (2 rectangular cloths included, along with 2 triangular cloths, for the triangular head -- I guess for corners or tight spaces. But I have not used or tried out. Also, 1 fluffy looking thing that's for dusting...again, have not tried this out either.) **edited to add 1/8/2010** I've used the purple duster on wood floors and love it! Cleans great. Eureka -- waffle type of towel, held in place by clamps on the base. After 1 wash, the trim started coming off and it already had a very worn/old look to it. Not sure how long it would have held up. (2 included) Haan -- a thick, microfiber trapazoid that just sort of velcros onto the bottom. Very sturdy. (2 included) OVERALL CLEANING (see photo): Obviously, not very scientific but I swiped a wet paper towel on a portion of my tile that I was planning to clean. I split the area into thirds so each steam mop was used in one section (I have large stone tile with deep grout lines (see photo). Then I went over that cleaned section with another wet paper towel to see how much dirt could be picked up. NONE: (first paper towel on left) Clearly, the dirtiest. Haan: cleaned the best (again, not scientific just how much was picked up on a paper towel after using the steam mop) Eureka Enviro: cleaned the worst (but obviously, still great, compared to nothing) Shark: in the middle. CONCLUSION: I'm keeping the Shark because of several factors: *big water chamber (thus

This vac makes very little noise and the battery powered brush doesn't appear to really be doing much. But then your floors and carpets get clean. It really does a pretty good job! It's perfect for 'in-between' use. I use it once or twice a week just to keep the floors in good shape. Now for the bad news. Battery life does in fact seem to...well...suck. I've had this little guy for about 3 weeks and already I can sense the battery losing charge much more quickly than the first few runs. As this isn't a powerful vac, a full strong battery charge is important. There's even a sticker on the vac that instructs you to replace the battery every 9-12 months. Not a good sign if you ask me. So overall, I'm disappointed. It's a good little vac with a cheap battery. With any luck, Shark will take these reviews to heart and really delve into improving the battery life. If and when they do, my review will go straight to 5 stars. Update: after a total of about 6 hours of use, while rolling the unit over bare marble floors, the main drive has broken. I guess this speaks to the quality of this unit - terrible? 38 of 38 people found the following review helpful. Very Pleased By mom05 I just bought this today so I cant tell you how wonderful it still works after many uses but I can tell you that it worked absolutely wonderfully on my very yuckie, dirty, Cheerio crumb infested (toddler in the house) kitchen floor. I will never use a broom and dust pan again. Well, maybe the broom, but only to quickly sweep the stuff the Shark can't reach under the lower cupboards (we live in an old apt which may have something to do with that). Not a big deal. I just swept it into the middle of the floor and then sucked it all right up with the Shark. It picks up much more than the broom/dust pan method, even better than my Hoover on the "hard floor" setting! It made mopping the old fashioned not so "yuckie." Now Im starting to eye the steam mops. Here's to no more getting on my hands and knees to clean the floors! I also tried it out on the carpet (more crumbs!) and it worked the same. Great! This product obviously wont replace your regular vacuum, but for quick, light clean ups, and for "pre-mopping" vacuuming it does the job very well. 17 of 17 people found the following review helpful. Convenience is great, cleaning is OK By Alan S. After using this product on my entire house for the first time, I find it easy and convenient. It is small enough to get under many things that are difficult for my real vacuum to reach. It is easy to carry upstairs. It seems to work fairly well on carpet, which was a surprise. I find my vacuuming is done faster. I have many uncarpeted surfaces, though, and found it a bit substandard on those. I had to go over my kitchen and hardwood floors several times in some spots to gather the dirt/dust there. My hardwood floors have grooves between the wide boards, as well, which my regular vacuum does a great job on, but the Shark leaves most dirt in those grooves. I did try it around the litter box, and after some repeated passes, it did pick up most of the cat litter, except any left in grooves. The place it did the poorest was on my hardwood stairs. It really did a lousy job, which is a shame, because this is one of the places that is real pain to use my regular vacuum on. I also felt that on some surfaces, such as the stairs, the Shark v1930 seemed to kick up a lot of dust into the air. My regular vacuum does a much better job keeping the air clean. That said, I may keep this as my go-to cleaner and save my regular vacuum for better cleaning efforts that I may get to every two weeks or so. It's just so easy to use. It's also so quiet that I can still listen to the TV or music and not bother the rest of the household while using it. That's a big plus. We are trying to

Amazon.com Review To spruce up a hardwood floor or to tend to an isolated mess, Eureka offers this petite stick version of their Boss vacuum. Weighing less than 4 pounds, the 2-amp vacuum can be used as a hand-held dust buster or an upright sweeper for emergency clean up and lightweight dusting. In addition to the stick vacuum's light convenience efficacy, it features an allergen filtering, bagless design, thus reducing bag waste. The stick vacuum motor design features a special clean air system, where dirt travels around the fan blades to prevent any dust from blowing back out into the air and prolong the life of the motor. Dust collects in a easy-to-empty dust cup. A telescopic handle enables upright and hand-held use and is crafted for ergonomic comfort while vacuuming vertically on stairs or upholstery. A crevice tool and a floor nozzle are also provided. The vacuum cord spans a distance of 15 feet. This cleaning appliance is most successful when used on hard floors rather than dense carpeting. The stick vacuum is covered by a one-year limited warranty. With the telescopic handle down, the vacuum measures 5-1/4 by 6-1/10 by 25-1/2 inches and weighs 3-4/5 pounds. --Jessica Reuling

I have a cat box in my bathroom and I really didn't like sweeping the kitty litter up every day - the broom would kick up dust and I would invariably miss a bit of kitty litter. I needed something small, light that I could drag out and buzz around the bathroom (hard surface) with. This fits the bill perfectly. It's not exactly quiet, but not too bad either. I don't like the rechargeable stick vacs because my closet doesn't have a power outlet and I really don't want to leave it out and look at the thing. In addition, corded stick vacs tend to be more powerful and don't run down, but you do have to put up with a cord. This stick vac is basically a dustbuster with a telescopic handle and a detachable (bare) floor nozzle. It is not going to compete with a regular vacuum, but for light cleanup (e.g. kitty litter) it works just fine. I also use it on the low-pile carpeting just outside the bathroom door to pick up any stray kitty litter and it gets most of it. I don't think you'd want to use it on thicker pile carpeting or for large areas especially considering the floor nozzle has no brush roller - it really is designed for hard floors. It does what I need -- no more kicking up dust and no more kitty litter in the bathroom (I use it every day). I am happy with my purchase. 34 of 34 people found the following review helpful. Better than full-sized. By CynBio I've been through three full-sized vacs looking for one as good as this one - my oldest, bag-using Hoover Elite was as good at vacuuming, but much heavier. The two Hoovers I've bought since then, with and without bags, haven't been half as good at getting up dog fur and kitty litter. So now, I'm just buying a second Boss for the downstairs. It even handles couch cushions and other upholstery - the only thing it doesn't do is get into nooks and crannies, since it doesn't have attachments. I use this vacuum several times a week, since there's no "hauling out" or "cord wrapping" or other headaches to deal with - fifteen minutes, and the job is done. Can't recommend it enough. 31 of 31 people found the following review helpful. Good vac for quick pickup-deserves 4 stars By Anrol This is a complete revision of an earlier review in which I complained about noise and hard-to-access dust cup - would now give it 4 stars but apparently am not allowed to change my initial rating during an "edit". Once I learned to press the release completely, I find the dust cup easy to access. It does a good job of picking up cat hairs and bits/pieces from the carpet surface and hardwood; the dust cup holds a much larger quantity than I would have expected from a vacuum this size. So lightweight - easy to grab out of a closet and give the house a once over. Would have given it 5 stars if it were not so noisy - I use earplugs when running it. People who seem to expect this vacuum to substitute for a full-size on carpet aren't being reasonable - this one does a great job for what it is intended. See all 56 customer reviews...

Diamond Pros: Extremely strong power, easy empty canister, does a terific job on bare floors and cleans rugs well too. Cons: very loud, other reviews stating watch out on handle assemby are correct. We started using the vaccuum on bare floors (harwood and laminate) and it really does a great job of picking up justa about everything. We are now using it on carpeted stairways as well. It makes very quick work of that. Wish it was a little quiter though. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. love, love, love it By nora zabowski I received this little vac last week and couldn't be happier. I totally agree with the other reviewers kudos. The suction is great, especially the hand held, and the cord is nice and long, I plug it in at the top of the stairs and have ample cord to go all the way downstairs and into the basement. I'm so done with the cordless, my charge would only last about 1 min, my bathroom is only about 4 ft square and I could barely get done, but NOW.....I have power from start to finish. It's easy to empty, and has a clear cup to alert you when it needs to be emptied. I think the only drawback is that it's a little noisy, but it's not a deterrent to purchase. The swivel head enables you to get around furniture very well. So happy with my purchase, I'm sure you will be too. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Broke in 3 months. By C. Strackbein I bought this Readivac in April 2010. I used in once or twice a week on my hardwood floors, and in late July it broke. The plastic casing that holds the swivel head snapped in two. The product is under a one year warranty, but I will have to pay to ship it to them and also for them to ship a new or repaired one back. I will wait to see how this is handled before I make a final review. I would like to say in defense of the vacuum that it did do a good job and was easy to use. See all 9 customer reviews...

Bissell Versus Cordless Bare-Floor Vacuum, 21R9A

Versus Rechargeable Bare Floor Vac

Amazon Sales Rank: #48099 in Home Color: Black Brand: Bissell Model: 21R9A Number of items: 1 Dimensions: 43.50" h x 10.50" w x 8.75" l, 4.55 pounds Cordless bare-floor vacuum cleaner runs up to 20 minutes per charge V-shaped base directs large debris into center suction path Arms pick up fine particles and capture debris in hard-to-reach places Low profile; bagless dirt container; foot-activated power switch Measures 8-4/5 by 10-1/2 by 43-1/2 inches

Lightweight and easy to use, this cordless stick vac works great for keeping low-pile area rugs and all bare-floor surfaces clean throughout the house. Its unique V-shaped base directs large debris into the center suction path while picking up fine particles along the arms. The angle of the arms increase air flow, allowing for greater suction at the end points of the base, which means the unit captures debris that normally gets left behind in corners and other hard-to-reach areas. In addition, it provides a comfortable handle, a bagless dirt container, a low-profile base for access under furniture, and a foot-activated power switch. The rechargeable bare-floor vacuum cleaner delivers up to 20 minutes of cleaning power per charge and measures 8-4/5 by 10-1/2 by 43-1/2 inches.

By MomAdvice I am a huge fan of Bissell products and everything that I have ever bought from the company has been a roaring success in our house. We have the Bissell Quick Steamer and the Bissell Steam Mop. Both of these little vacuums get a workout in our house, but I have yet to find a cordless vacuum that I am happy with. We bought a Shark which I absolutely loved until it burned out two years later. The next investment was our Dirt Devil Vibe. The suction was great for about a month and then it just stopped picking up. Since then I have been making do with a good old-fashioned broom and pan, but I always keep my eyes peeled for a cordless vacuum that works. Bissell sent over their new Bissell Versus Cordless Bare Floor Vacuum and I couldn't wait to open it up. As with all cordless vacuums it requires a good charging before it will work so I had to wait until the next day to use it. Upon it charging, I was ready to roll and I had two willing and messy children to help me break it in. After a morning breakfast of cornflakes (for Ethan) and Cheerios (for Emily), we had the perfect scenario for testing out this vacuum. The first thing you will notice about this vacuum is that it is an unusual shape. The design might not make sense at first, but when you are trying to get in those crevices around your furniture, it makes complete sense. It is a V-shape design that allows you to get right against your kitchen table and chairs without having to manuever around it. It does require a little manuevering though when you are trying to get around the outer perimeters of your room, but you just line it up against the wall and push around that way. This vacuum has great suction and within minutes, I could see that it had picked up every last little cornflake bit and Cheerio. Again, the design factor comes into play on this model because the V-shaped design helps so that you aren't scooting stuff around (as I had experienced with other cordless models) and actually suctions it into the center. While intended for bare floors, you could also use this vacuum on low pile carpeting. The vacuum is brushless so you aren't having to deal with trapped hairs and threads underneath. Best of all, it is bagless and has any easy to release cup where you can dump out what you catch...like Cheerios or cornflakes! I would highly recommend this vacuum and can't wait to put it to the Clark test and see if it can survive a few years of hard work in our house. Here are a few easy tips for picking a cordless vacuum that will be a good fit for your family: 1. You will be much happier with whatever you are purchasing if you can test drive it. Borrow one from a friend or just take them through a spin in the aisle. It would be ideal if you could use it, but if you can't just try pushing it around to see if it glides easily. 2. Pick a store that has a good return policy. I knew that Target is pretty good about returns, so I picked that store. In the case of the Shark, I read a story of one lady who had went through three in a month so it is good that the return policy would allow her to do that. 3. Online stores are great and might have more affordable pricing on these, but the pure and simple fact is, if it is defective or you just plain hate it, you have to ship that back. Who wants to be running a sweeper over to the post office? Physical stores are better in this case. 4. Sometimes extras (which cost extra) aren't worth it. Stick to the basic functions and look for ones that offer the best sweeper for your money. 5. Just like all things, the highest price does not make it the best. Some of the higher priced models had a lot less power than the one I purchased. 21 of 22 people found the following review helpful. Top Notch Bare Floor Vacuum Cleaner By T. Excellent vac: mostly pros, with few cons By Charlotte We have four vacuum cleaners, and it's not because we're neat freaks. It's exactly the opposite. We keep hoping for the one vacuum that will clean our house with the least effort. Each succession of vacuum cleaner gets smaller and smaller, especially after we discovered we can pay our 5-year old 50 cents to clean the carpet. Between this and the Eureka "The Boss Superlite", they're our favorites. Here are some of the real pluses of the system, followed by the negatives: PROS: Great suction, especially on fine dust Very lightweight, our kid (5 years old) can operate it Retractable handle makes it easy to carry around (we're short people) Retractable handle makes it easy to store Inexpensive CONS: The HEPA filter attracts dust very quickly and needs to be cleaned each time (is this a plus or a minus?) Anyhow, it's a messy job. The front face could be a fraction smaller to get under furniture better 122 of 124 people found the following review helpful. Great for In-Between Fast Clean Ups By Rick Overall, it's a really good vac. I wouldn't use this for a whole house, but for a small upstairs or downstairs, or a two bedroom (or smaller) apartment. The narrow cleaning path is great for going in between tight spaces w/o moving everything around. The 12 amp motor is powerful and has great suction for under $100. It is constructed pretty well, except for the cheap plastic wheels that feel flimsy and squeak right out of the box. As with ANY bagless vac, to keep suction strong at all times, you have to clean the filter every single time you use it (especially with pets). If you don't want to be bothered cleaning it every time, then be fair, dont buy this machine and don't give it poor ratings. Get a bagged vac ... or a maid. For those reviewers who say it died 3 or 4 times - it is not dieing. It is overheating because the filter is not clean. The filter needs to be cleaned every one or two uses, not when the dust bin fills up to the max. The reason it works again is because the motor cooled down. PROS: Powerful suction in Floor or Hose mode Easy to clean Long stretch hose Will not tip over when hose is stretched too far Replacement parts available on Eureka web-site Filter cleaning every 2 or 3 uses if secondary vac CONS: Hose feels flimsy when stretched to full-length Cleaning the filter is messy - do it outside Filter must be cleaned frequently if used as primary vac Front exhaust blows debris in front of cleaner - tilt down 39 of 40 people found the following review helpful. Actually, this is the best vac among 3 vacuums I have. By gracesantacruz Pros: Saction power, light weight, good performance on different surfaces (hardwood, tile, carpet, carpetted stair), great value! Cons: Dirty and cumbersome to clean the filter, noisy I have 3 vacuum cleaners--large and heavy upright for carpet, cordless stick vac for picker-upper, and Eureka Optima for all-round cleaning. This has the best saction and versatility among all, and for the first time, I feel I can stop my pursuit of a good vac cleaner. After trying so many cleaners, I now have realistic expectation. Even a good vac has some shorcomings, and you need to know what your priority is. In this case, cleaning the waste bin and filter is very messy and cumbersome. Because Eureka Optima has very good saction, the filter catches so much fine dust very quickly. I need to dust if off almost everytime I vacuum, and it is not fun. However, for me, can-vacuum-anywhere versatility and light weight make up for it. I recommend Eureka Optima even if this dies on me within one year (which it does not yet). This is not a perfect cleaner, and there is not a perfect cleaner, but a great value for solid performance. See all 231 customer reviews...

Orchard I thought this would be the perfect solution for the dust that is collected every day on my hardwood floors. Initially, I was impressed. The Swiffer seemed to gather a large amount of dust. But I was worried about the plastic "vacuum", which sometimes can scratch the floor if you're not careful. wrote as a member would have been helpful if you add a little more than rubber or plastic part of the vacuum. as the months passed, I realized that the vacuum does not seem to collect as much as before. I clean the filter regularly (which is a chaos of dust every time they do), so I do not know what happens. frankly, the gap is simply not strong enough that you need to do more. I returned to my usual "super-strength" of vacuum for the job. Pros: * easy * just * use works great for very light jobs * small and easy to store Disadvantages: * vacuum is not as strong as I want - more powerful engine would be great * plastic vacuum part from scratch floors, if you're not careful * cleaning of the filter can be messy and may require from you to the ground immediately after the cleaning of the filter Swiffer! 65 of 66 people found the following review helpful. Excellent used zen118 AS DETERMINED I have five cats. That means a lot of cat litter, cat food and cat hair on the linoleum floor in my laundry room. The Swiffer Sweeper Vac is ideal for fast and easy recording all of the above. It is easy and does not scratch the floor. No dust pan and broom needs. The flexible sweeping head swivels easily into corners and under cabinets to achieve without problems. Important to note: In the instruction manual that comes with the product, it means you need the battery for a full 24 hours before the first use. It states the vac will run for about 10 - 12 minutes on one charge, then need to be charged for 16 hours It states the Sweeper&Vac operates best if used until fully discharged before charging again. It is intended for dry pick up only, not liquids. The dirt container is small. I just checked, and one 8-oz measuring cup of dry cat litter more than fills it. I'd say 4 - 6 oz is more like it. It does NOT work well on carpet. The manual suggests storing the Sweeper Vac near an outlet where it is convenient to charge every time. If you will not be happy with these limitations, you will not be happy with this product! The floor in my utility room is small, about 6' X 10'. If you have a very large house, or many rooms with hardwood, tile, or vinyl floors, you may not be happy with the Sweeper Vac, as many other reviews have stated. It simply isn't intended to run for long periods of time on one charge. I'd suggest getting some other floor cleaning appliance. If you want something for quick dry-pick-up, with no stooping or bending to use dust pan and brush, the Swiffer Sweeper Vac may be just the thing The dirt container does pull off very easily to empty, and snaps easily back into place. The filter is very easy to remove and snap back into place. Some other user reviews have stated that the Sweeper Vac does not pick up solid pieces of cat food, only crumbs. I do NOT understand this. Mine picks up both whole pieces of dry cat food AND crumbs. It picks up lint, cat litter and dust. It gets all the cat hair and "dust bunnies" with no problem. That's all I wanted or expected it to do, and it does all of those things quickly and easily. Replacement filters are available at Target, and at several sites online. Two cloths are included in the Starter Kit. The Swiffer cloths are available at grocery stores, discount stores, and online. Target and Walmart both carry them. I think if used as intended this is an excellent floor cleaner. I'm very happy with mine Link to User Manual: [...] 136 of 145 people found the following review helpful. By AL I was a little apprehensive about spending more than $ 200 on a stick vacuum, but the Miele S163 is definitely worth it. First of all, it's calm, then you definitely do not need to turn it off to hear the phone ring / bell. The best thing about it is incredible suction ... my carpet looked brand new and my couch has not been as lint-free since I bought it. The S163 does not come with the HEPA filter, like the S168 does (but you can get one for less than $ 110, which is what is the price difference). The S163 comes with two attachments: a crevice nozzle and upholstery brush. It has a switch mat / floor, too, and works wonders on my hardwood floors. The cord is nice and long (some rooms I can vacuum my small apartment at a time without having to disconnect). After all, a great buy! 45 of 45 people found the following review helpful. great for hardwood floors by Shannon M. It is by far the best vacuum cleaner I have ever owned. The only things we have had to replace on it, is it's bag and HEPA filters. The vacuum has needed no repairs. I have used it to clean not only the floor, but also the furniture and drapes. My husband has allergies, and this was a large part of the reason we bought it. Other vacuums stirred up too much dust and caused his allergies to act up. Not with the Miele. It is quieter than any vacuum I have ever used. I don't think it is superior because of the extra money we paid for, I think it is superior because of it's lasting power, excellent cleaning capabilities, and low maintenance See all 23 customer reviews....
